A few days Huawei launched the refreshed version of the Ascend Mate phablet at CES 2014, called the Ascend Mate 2 4G, bearing the same 6.1-inch HD IPS+ LCD display, but with an upgraded chipset, more built in storage, and bigger front and rear cameras. Huawei unfortunately didn't provide availability and pricing details of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean-based phablet, except to mention that the Ascend Mate 2 will unlike its predecessor be available in the US, apart from 40 other markets.

Before we begin talking about ourselves, or at least, pictures of ourselves; here’s a little about the smartphone. Huawei launched the Ascend Mate at CES last yr, and its sequel retains the massive 6.1-inch, 720p display. During its presentation, Huawei defended its choice not to give the Mate 2 a 1080p screen, saying it wasn't only better for battery life to use 720p, but its special screen is so sharp, no-one will miss it.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G looks a good deal like a Samsung Galaxy Note thanks to its glossy exterior and fake metal accents. All the same, no one will mistake the software as a Samsung offshoot because it's more in the MIUI vein. Take a look at the hands-on video below to see the software in action.

The Mate 2 will boast 2GB of RAM and is also confirmed to run using one of two processor choices: a Qualcomm MSM8928 1GHz dual-core processor or Huawei's HiSilicon quad-core Cortex-A9 1.6Ghz processor. It will also feature a 5MP front camera and custom 13MP Sony BSI rear camera.
