There may come a time in a person's life when they ask themselves how have they remained productive so far without a 12" stylus-wielding tablet with extremely high resolution display. That is accurately the moment Samsung is betting on while it introduced the Galaxy Note PRO the largest member of its Note family, that arguably started the altogether big-screen mobile device swoop with the introduction of the first phablet. Samsung argues that the 12.2” Note PRO offers PC-like productivity now mobile age that blurs the lines between computing device segments, and if we look at the specs of this Android tablet, the company has a point, so let's preview what will be on offer with the newcomer in the Note portfolio, taking some hints from our prototype unit.

Display :
Samsung looks ready to try a bigger Android slate in 2014, maybe a tablet that can suffice as a laptop replacement for some. The anticipated product name is the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, suggesting a 12.2-inch display. Benchmarks for the alleged tab were found on Wednesday by enthusiast site SamMobile and offer a hint of what the product might have inside.
Reported to the Antutu benchmarks, the Note Pro 12.2 as tested used a 2560 × 1600 display with 16:10 aspect ratio. The device under test used a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, 3 GB of memory and was running Android 4.2.2. Sam Mobile indicates a new and fresh version of Samsung Touch-Wiz is on the device and the sites sources say it will look noticeably different.

Design :
Samsung has used the artificial leather appear with stitching accents pioneered with the Note 3 once again. It arguably gives its electronic devices a more buttoned-down and sophisticated look than sheer plastic, and we have to say you are able to be fooled it is a leather notepad looking from afar. It's still plastic, but nicer to the touch than the usual glossy coat. Glossy, however, is offering more traction for your hands, as it just follows your fingers, whereas the leathery back here is more slippery. There's a metallic-looking rim surrounding the sides of the Note PRO, further adding to the more premium looks.

The tablet also has an 8 megapixel rear camera, 2.1 megapixel front sensor and IR blaster. Expected are two versions, one with Wi-Fi only and one with LTE support. Both would have 802.11ac W-Fi support, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.0 +LE. There’s no mention of a GPS radio, but I expect Samsung is also including one. As a Note product, the tablet would surely have a stylus as well.

Price :
You can pre-order the Note Pro from this link from 28 January, and the first 300 people get a free gamepad worth £90. Which is nice; but what Samsung doesn't yet say is how much the tablet costs or when you can expect it to drop through your letterbox. Update: It costs £649 and is due to be posted on 4 February.
