New iPad Air hands-on

The most of import thing about Apple’s iPad Air is the fact that it is now a one-handed device. Preceding generations of the full-size 9.7″ iPad could not be held in a single hand for long periods of extended periodical reading or web browsing.

This recently version fixes that by making it much, much lighter. It weighs in at just 1lb, which is .4lbs lighter than the iPad 4. In our hands-on tests this difference in weight was marked, and made for a hugely a different experience. Users who may have wanted a lighter tablet, but did not want to sacrifice screen real-estate to make a motion to an iPad mini, will probably be pleased.

The iPad Air feels a lot more like a larger iPad mini than it does a newer generation of the previous iPad. The iPad Air includes the same Apple A7 SoC as the iPhone 5s and also includes the M7 sensor fusion hub.

Also improved are the cameras - bringing a HD Facetime camera (ie the front one) and a 5MP, 1080p rear camera. Don't use the rear one, though. Seriously. Don't be that person.
The cameras appeared to function pretty well in the low light of the hands-on room, but we need to get it out into the wild to give you a proper opinion.
