The last and new iPad Mini Retina is Apple's second-gen mini tablet, but has it got what it goes for top our list of the best tablets to buy?
The original iPad mini was our favorite tablet ever; small and lightweight enough to be truly portable, unified hardware and software to keep the battery going all day, and running the best OS with the almost apps. Hell, even without a Retina display, it even succeeded our tablet of the year.
This new iPad mini comes with a Retina display: a high-resolution 7.9-inch panel whose resolution is on-par with the Air at 2048 x 1536, bringing 326 pixels per inch. Not only that, but Apple’s new A7 system on a chip is included, alongside a greater battery in a shell that’s nearly identical in size to the original iPad mini. More or less aspects of the device remain the same, such as the camera and the connectivity options, but it still has many new features that will hopefully satisfy.
The sub 8-inch tablet market is booming and Apple arguably has more amazing competition in this arena than it does in the 10-inch one, with the likes of the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HDX, Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 and many others all offering good tablet experiences at bargain prices.
The iPad mini 2 with Retina display also comes with a price hike – from £269 to £319.
